The Guide's Handbook

No hidden dungeons. No surprise dragons.
Just honest storytelling that moves your business forward.

General Questions

Most clients book 2–6 weeks ahead. Retainer clients have priority, so early enquiry is recommended if you have a deadline or fixed launch date.

This varies drastically based on the package you choose, or requirements of your shoot.

Most shoots take anywhere from 1–3 days, depending on the project. Larger packages may use a block of days, or even a full week, which we plan together.

Most projects are completed within two weeks of the final shoot. If you have deadlines (launches, campaigns, events), please discuss this upfront.

Some packages, such as The Prologue Package, use a blocked-out calendar week, meaning the full scope of edits are usually ready within that same window. This can be arranged by request for other packages too.

Clear deadlines and specifically carved out calendar time = efficiency for both parties.

Of course. If you're unsure, we’ll walk through your goals, audience, and challenges to create a clear recommendation, or bespoke package.

Yes, bespoke projects are available upon request.

Scripting & Creative

Absolutely. Most clients feel the same at the start. We use structured talking points, teleprompter support, and guided directing to help you feel comfortable and confident. As you practice on the day, you’ll naturally get better and feel more relaxed, leading to better takes.

We work together. You share knowledge of your business; we shape it into a clear, compelling message.

We believe great storytelling requires planning and structure.

  • Story-based film content: fully scripted.
  • Social media content: structured talking points, lighter scripting for flexibility.

Yes. Most of what we do involves talking head (talk-to-camera), but there are occasions when voice-over (audio only) is preferred. We can either record you on-site with professional audio, arrange a session at a third-party location, or source a professional voice actor to bring your story to life. We typically only use the latter for product explainers and staff training videos.

Deliverables & Usage

Usually, yes. If the footage quality is high enough. We can also combine old and new footage for certain projects.

Raw footage isn’t included by default, but we can provide it upon request. It’s large, unedited and will require storage arrangements.

Yes. You receive full usage rights for all delivered content. - Except for resale or redistribution to third parties (without prior discussion). We also reserve the right to use footage for our own marketing.

Via cloud storage, with clearly organised folders and filenames for easy access.

You’ll receive ready-to-use files in MP4 for universal compatibility.

We currently keep completed projects stored for 1 year by default. Long-term storage can be arranged at an additional cost.

Yes. All films come with a fully checked and timed SRT caption file as standard. Social media content does not, but captions can be created and burned into the video(s) by request.

Yes, this is the perfect use of the Prologue Package, or a customised version of it.

Branding & Strategy

Yes, to an extent. Every package includes guidance, but for deeper strategy or ongoing support, you’ll need a social media manager.

Yes, absolutely. Deep collaboration with your team always delivers the best results, helping us create visuals that fully align with your brand strategy.

We can create a visual direction for the project and advise on future brand consistency.

Logistics & Practicalities

Most clients use their workplace or project sites. We can recommend locations or capture multi-site filming depending on your package. We’re generally happy and able to film in various environments and spaces. But arrangements may need to be made in excessively hot, wet, dirty, toxic, or loud locations.

Generally, no. We do account for and include some mileage for local companies, depending on the package. But if the job requires more than one visit, or is more than 10 miles from Newton Abbot, Devon, travel will be charged at 45p per mile, per visit.

Absolutely. Overnight stays for long-distance or multi-day shoots will need to be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

If weather affects drone use or exteriors, we discuss alternatives on the day (interiors first, rescheduling exteriors, or returning on a different day).

If filming publicly or commercially requires permissions, we’ll guide you through what’s needed.

We send a short prep guide before filming, covering outfits, tidy-up areas, sound considerations, and anything needed on the day.

Yes. If you need standalone photography or aerial work, we can quote separately.

Payment & Value

Yes, but only for larger packages. For these, we can break down payments across milestones.

Absolutely - For clients who choose to pay for the full project upfront, everything moves even faster. There is no need for temporary watermarks on deliverables, which means less admin on both sides and quicker access to your final files, ready for immediate use. This is highly advised when working to tight deadlines.

Because it's mutually beneficial to both parties. It confirms your commitment to the project and allows us to reserve filming dates, allocate resources, and begin pre-production confidently. We also require projects to be paid in full before final delivery, and deliverables may be watermarked until the final balance is received. This protects both sides and ensures a smooth, professional workflow.

Generally, no. Once you've committed to a project, we expect to complete it, and time and resources will already have been invested. Only in exceptional circumstances would a refund be considered, and even then, deposits are unlikely to be refunded in full. If you need to move or reschedule, we will always do our best to accommodate this, and are happy to rearrange filming where necessary. If we cannot complete the work for any reason on our end, you will be refunded in full. In rare force majeure situations, we will assess the circumstances and act accordingly.

Because you’re not paying for a day of filming; you’re paying for strategy, planning, scripting, experience, use of expensive gear, editing, distribution prep, and expertise that delivers results.

Our prices reflect the value and time dedicated to each project, including the careful planning involved. We don’t discount, but we do offer rewards for booking multiple assets together.

Returns & Results

Yes, when used strategically - we guarantee it will. Most businesses see improvements in trust, conversions, customer understanding, and online engagement.

This depends on several factors, such as the type of content, and it being fully utilised as outlined and intended. For ad campaigns, the results can be almost instant. For social content, retainer clients typically see momentum build within 4–8 weeks. For brand films and website visuals, results are an investment that snowball credibility over time.

We don’t manage ads or analytics, but we will guide you on best practices and give recommendations for monitoring results.

Training & Internal Video

Yes, filming modules in batches is more efficient and cost-effective.

Yes. We can re-edit or add new modules when your processes change. This may require long-term storage of footage and project files, however, which is something to be discussed at an additional cost.

Absolutely. We can deliver everything for internal-only storage and use.
